Corporate & Social Responsibility

As a global organisation, we understand our business has a significant impact on all the communities in which we work. This realisation carries with it a huge amount of responsibility. Hence our ongoing involvement in a diverse range of projects which are aimed at giving back and supporting the needs of people, not just here in the UK, but all over the world.

Reflecting the caring legacy of Gap Inc.'s founders, Donald and Doris Fisher, Gap Foundation – Gap Inc.'s charitable arm since 1977 – is committed to supporting communities where we live and work around the world.

Through grants, in-kind donations, community outreach and employee volunteerism, we give money, time and hope to those in our communities who need it most.

At Gap Foundation, we work to help women in developing countries build life and job skills, and help underserved youth in developed countries gain the skills they need to build a career and a future. We believe that all children and youth have the right to a vibrant future and should be given opportunities to learn, connect, aspire, and thrive. We also encourage employees to get involved in their communities by offering, among other things, paid time off to volunteer; and we match – pound for pound – employees’ donations to non-profit organisations of their choice.

We also insist that the people who make our clothes are treated fairly and with respect, and we back up these principles with one of the most comprehensive factory-monitoring and labour standards programmes in the apparel industry.

“Acting in an ethical way is not only the right thing to do – it also unlocks new ways for us to do business better.”
